Libations Please

I have been pretty distracted this week and I fully intended on posting this yesterday but, once again, life had other plans. On the bright side it’s Thursday! Which means you made it through the mid-week slump and are sliding into weekend mode. So, what are you going to do? Where you gonna go? Can I offer a suggestion???

That’s right, it’s time for “I’ll Have Another Wednesday” – brought to you by Thursday :).

I think you should take your happy self over to Soria. Located at Goritti 5151, this is a great bar especially in the summer. Por que? Well, the main room of the bar is a giant patio. Which is great when you want a something to cool you down, but now that winter has come it’s a bit of a put off. As a result, our first inclination when we arrived was to flee but we stayed and I am glad we did. They have heaters, as well as a back room (which also has a bar) that is fully enclosed.

Soria, isn’t that large and the fact that it is longer than it is wide, paired with walls lined with huge plants, you really get the feeling that you are in a secret garden of sorts. The music was great and the drinks even better. There are so many places in this city that will charge you 80+ pesos for your basic cocktail, but this isn’t one of them. The menu has a mix of classic and inventive cocktails. Throwing caution to the wind I ordered a mint julep and man did the bartender do it justice! Best part? It was only 45 pesos! In fact majority of their drinks are around 45 pesos (keep in mind inflation has a way of changing things over night). Have an issue with mint/lime combo? Order their pisco sour – you’re in South America – just do it. They also have tapas, I haven’t tried them yet, but word on the street is – they are mighty delicious.

Bottom line? I highly recommend and will keep coming back.
